The Boston LGBT Film Festival is once again proudly presenting the short films from the Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project (QWOCMAP), co-sponsored by Queer Women of Color and Friends (Boston)!
The Boston LGBT Film Festival is the longest running and largest LGBT media event in New England, which celebrates, displays and distributes work by and for LGBT media makers – work that entertains, enriches and enlightens all audiences in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allied communities.
The annual Festival screenings proudly showcases international films, video, and other media, fostering a greater sense of awareness and community among not just among US-based LGBT and LGBT-friendly audiences, but among LGBT filmmakers across countries as well. Moreover, the festival intentionally creates programming that reflects the experiences of marginalized communities, including queer women of color.
Five queer black women families raising children reveal The Gift of Family. After a job loss, a South-Asian lesbian couple finds themselves Legally Challenged to hold onto their love. Unsaid words and unexpressed emotions flare in a series of letters that are Undeliverables. In the heat of desperate times, Help Wanted doesn’t apply to a genderqueer Asian looking for employment. A smoking talented jazz trumpeter sets it off In The Key of D when she makes a decision that will change her life forever. Queering sex and resilience, Fat Femmes seduce With Conviction.
The program takes place on May 9th at the Museum of Fine Arts, and begins promptly at 7:45 pm. Tickets may be purchased at the museum box office.
