Hi everyone, I am a queer Southern Black feminist passionate about trans formative literature, literacy, and love. I acquired my zeal for  feminism and activism at Spelman College, where I earned a B.A. in  English and minored in Spanish and Comparative Women’s Studies.

Outside of activism, I am an emerging literary scholar embarking on my first-year of graduate school at American University. My academic interests include themes of trauma, survival, and recovery in literature written by women of color, and the socioeconomic and communal issues prompting migration, “flight,” and displacement.

[pullquote3 align=”center” quotes=”true” cite=”Toni Cade Bambara”]Writing is one of the ways I participate in transformation.[/pullquote3]

As a budding scholar-activist-writer, I am excited about the opportunity to amplify media for queer people of color because for far too long hegemonic ideology worked to silence their visionary genius. I believe it is essential to document and celebrate these narratives in order to create a (safe) space for radical brainstorming within our respective communities.

Through my work this summer with QWOC Media Wire, I hope to illuminate the brilliance of queer creators of color encouraging conversations to begin and organizing to erupt. When I’m not walking in the spirit of the late Toni Cade Bambara, I enjoy practicing yoga, intense Scrabble matches, Modern dance, and travelling.
